Overview
Clare graduated from Nottingham Trent University before becoming a legal adviser at HMCTS at courts in the West Midlands and Derby. She completed pupillage in Leicester, later moving to Birmingham and joined St. Mary's Chambers in 2019.
Clare was appointed a Deputy District Judge to the Midland Circuit in May 2020, and was appointed a Recorder to the Midland Circuit in 2022.
Practice Areas
Clare specialises in Public Law Children cases and represents local authorities, parents, children, and intervenors in care proceedings at all levels. She frequently represents vulnerable clients, including those with significant cognitive difficulties and mental health issues. She is instructed in cases involving serious and long-term neglect, non-accidental injury and physical and sexual abuse, as well as those involving children who are beyond parental control. Clare has been instructed to represent child parties who are competent to give instructions directly and in cases involving children as witnesses.
