Overview
Mark is a very experienced specialist family law practitioner. He practices in private and public law. He is meticulous in his preparation and is a highly persuasive court room advocate.
Mark was called to the Bar in 2001 and became a tenant at St. Mary’s Chambers in 2003 following the successful completion of a specialist family law pupillage. Prior to this Mark graduated from the University of Nottingham in 1989 with a first class degree in American Studies and then taught and studied in the USA, graduating with a Master’s Degree in American Studies in 1991 from Bowling Green State University. Mark then had a successful career working in the voluntary sector in Nottingham, primarily in the provision of and development of support services for homeless people. He studied at the Nottingham Law School between 1999 and 2001, obtaining a Post Graduate Diploma in Law in 2000 and then completing the Bar Vocational Course in 2001.

Mark has significant experience in public law proceedings. He has represented local authorities, parents and Guardians in complex cases and is regularly instructed in multi-day matters.
Mark has significant experience in private law proceedings. He represents 16.4 Guardians, as well as parents/other family members. He regularly deals with complex private law matters, involving allegations of abuse and parental alienation.

Acting for mother in 5 day, public law, final hearing, involving complex issues, relating to child sexual abuse, child pornography and related “international issues.”
Acting for father in relation to fact finding hearing in private law contact proceedings, where successfully defended client against allegations of child sexual abuse and sexual assault of the mother.
