Overview
Miriam became a tenant at St. Mary’s Chambers in January 2018. She has a busy practice in all areas of family law. Miriam is an experienced advocate and has been instructed on a number of multi-day and complex hearings in public and private law, financial remedies and court of protection. Miriam has an exceptional ability to deal with difficult cases in a realistic and empathetic manner and is experienced in working with vulnerable people.
Miriam graduated in Law from Sheffield Hallam University in 2010. She was awarded the Princess Diana Scholarship and Benefactors Scholarship from Middle Temple to complete the BPTC. Miriam was called to the Bar in 2016 after successfully completing the BPTC at the College of Law Birmingham, achieving a ‘Very Competent’.
Practice Areas
Miriam is regularly instructed to represent parties in all aspects of financial remedy proceedings. Miriam represents both husbands and wives within financial remedy and contested divorce proceedings. Miriam has acted in cases involving trusts, foreign property and third party intervenors.
Miriam is regularly instructed in all aspects of private law. Miriam is often instructed on complex and challenging matters and regularly appears in the High Court dealing with cases which have international and cultural elements, serious allegations of abuse and parental alienation.
Miriam was instructed in the matter of B (A Child: Immunisation) [2018] EWFC 56 dealing with an application for a Specific Issue Order to permit the mother to arrange for B to be immunised.
Miriam deals with all aspects of court of protection work for local authorities and vulnerable persons. Miriam has recently dealt with a case dealing with the issue of capacity to marry and enter into sexual relations.
Miriam deals with all aspects of public law representing parents, Children’s Guardian’s and intervenors. Miriam is experienced in multi-day fact finding hearings, final and composite hearings dealing with a wide range of serious issues including NAI, sexual abuse and honour violence.

Recent cases
Miriam represented a mother in long-standing complex private law proceedings with international elements. She was successful in securing findings against the father and an order for no contact.
Miriam represented a father seeking contact with his son, the Cafcass Officer had recommended no contact. Miriam was successful in persuading the court and the Cafcass Officer that an order for no contact was draconian and a contact plan was agreed.
Miriam represented a wife in financial proceedings where the husband was residing abroad and not engaging with the proceedings. Miriam was able to secure the wife the proceeds of the FMH and a lump sum payment.
Miriam represented a mother in public law proceedings where contact between her and the child had been suspended. Miriam was successful in re-instating the contact.
